Jacksonville, FL is the largest city in the state of Florida and is located on the banks of the St. Johns River. It is a major military and civilian deep water port. The Port of Jacksonville, is the 3rd largest seaport in Florida.
Tourism is an important part of the Jacksonville area, due in part to The Jacksonville Beaches communities along the beautiful adjacent Atlantic Coast and also for its golf and active lifestyle. The downtown area of Jacksonville is quite unique with its numerous bridges, hotels, theaters, museums, The Landing (known for its shops and restaurants right on the water) the Riverwalk, with water taxi to cross to The Landing, Veterans Memorial Arena and Metropolitan Park. Activities throughout the year include football, baseball, concerts, plays, conventions, festivals, fireworks and more.
Jacksonville is home to the Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League. There are numerous other sporting teams in Jacksonville including baseball, hockey, soccer, golf, and tennis. Annual events include the Gate River Run, Florida/Georgia football game, Gator game, Kingfish Tournament, Christmas Tree Lighting, Agricultural Fair, Jacksonville Light Parade of Boats, Freedom, Fanfare & Fireworks (July 4th). Jacksonville has many parks that provide access for people to boat, swim, fish, sail, jetski, surf and waterski.
